We specialize in mechanical dredging. The machine pictured here is called an amphibious hydraulic excavator. The steel pontoons allow the machine to float when enough depth allows, and the aluminum tracks that are driven around the pontoons allow it to crawl in waterways that are shallow enough.
It's job is to dig sediments from the waterway and load it into a steel barge which is then pushed via tug boat up the waterway to the off-loading/staging area. There it can be loaded into our truck and hauled off.
We take great pride in our efforts to restore the depth of our customers canal front properties not only because of the fact that they appreciate gaining the ability to easily navigate their boats through them but also because we give the natural inhabitants of the canal their waterfront property back too.
Over time, sediments from erosion caused by rain and tides, fill in the waterway making it shallow. The aquatic plants can't live therefore the fish come in less and less. The birds don't frequent because of the lack of fish and where we used to see otters living and playing years ago, there are none. They've all found better places to live and thrive.
